Romero de Mangueira has Performed, Taught, Choreographed and Directed for the last 20 years. This has taken him all over the world. He is now based in London teaching and performing internationally.
Rio de Janeiro's most famous and infamous Samba School 'Estacao Primeira de Mangueira' lays at the feet of ' Morro da Mangueira', a renowned Favela / Shanty Town on the hills of Rio.
Over 80 years of tradition back the 17 times Sambodrome Champion Mangueira, who's symbol is a Surdo (Traditional Samba Bass Drum) with a wreath of bay leaves.
Romero de Mangueira established his reputation in the first two decades of his career as a Principal Dancer and Choreographer in the iconic School of Samba, Mangueira (colors Green & Pink).
To this day, Mangueira welcomes him as a guest of honour in their annual Carnival parade. Brazilian music legends such as Caetano Veloso invite him to dance at their sell out concerts. Such is his standing in Samba dance circles in Rio; his career has been charted in one documentary by a Brazilian film maker.
For the past 15 years, Romero de Mangueira, widely considered to be one of the best and most influencial Samba teachers in Europe, has been teaching and touring across the UK and the Continent.
Romero has also performed Samba in more intense settings, in countless clubs and private functions.
